# Daily Brief

A short, dated, source-linked digest — not a feed.

## Procedure

1. **One search per source, not one per topic.** A generic `search.web` on a topic returns the same three aggregator posts every day. Query sources separately: Hacker News, GitHub Trending, Hugging Face Papers, arXiv, TechCrunch, Reuters, and the primary sites of whoever is central to the topic.

2. **Date-gate hard.** Anything outside `{{horizon}}` is dropped, however good it is — then report how many you dropped. "14 results, 9 outside the window" tells the reader whether the topic is quiet or whether the search was bad, and those call for different responses.

3. **Rank by consequence, not recency.** A three-hour-old release note that changes someone's plans outranks a one-hour-old opinion piece about it. Recency is the filter; it is not the sort.

4. **Three bullets per topic, maximum.** A brief that takes ten minutes to read is not a brief, and it will not be read tomorrow.

5. **Say what did not happen.** When a topic was quiet, write one line saying so. An empty section reads as a broken tool; "no movement on the ruling, day 4" is information, and is usually why the reader asked.

6. **Carry the thread.** `memory.save` the running state per topic where it is available, so tomorrow can open with what changed instead of restating the world.

7. **Publish** with `artifact.deploy` if available, and return the link alongside the text.

## Output

Per topic: a heading, up to three bullets, each carrying a date and a link to the primary source. Then the dropped-result count, and the link if you published one.

## Notes

- Cite what the aggregator linked to, never the aggregator. "Hacker News says" is not a source.
- Dates on everything. A brief whose reader cannot tell whether a claim is a day or a year old is worse than no brief.
- **International sources only.** This pack targets the global surface — the sources above, plus a topic's own primaries. Region-specific aggregators are deliberately out of scope; adding them would quietly change what the pack is for.
